Honolulu, HI – Today, the Hawaii State American Federation of Labor & Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) announced its endorsement of Dr. Josh Green for Governor of Hawaii.
“Throughout his time in public service, Josh Green has stood up and defended the working people of Hawaii, joining AFL-CIO in some of our biggest fights: the fight for fairer wages, the fight for better workingconditions, and the fight for respect on the job,” said Randy Perreira, President of the Hawaii State AFL-CIO.
Perreira continues, “We saw during the COVID-19 pandemic that Josh Green is a leader who won’t back down from a challenge. Over the past two years, Josh was on the front lines—both as a doctor and Lieutenant Governor—helping to establish protocols that ensured Hawaii’s workers could continue to provide for their families, pay their rent, and put food on the table. As Hawaii returns to normal, the cost of housing, access to healthcare, and food costs are again front of mind for Hawaii’s workers. With an effective, proven leader in the Governor’s office, we can overcome these challenges and build a better future for Hawaii’s workers. At AFL-CIO, we believe Josh is that leader, and we offer him our full-fledged endorsement and support.”
“I am extremely grateful and proud to receive the endorsement and support of the Hawaii State AFL-CIO,” said Josh Green. “I know that together we will accomplish great things for Hawaii’s working families in the coming years.”
Josh Green is committed to tackling the issues facing Hawaii’s workers and families with solutions that will strengthen Hawaii’s middle class:
- Increasing Hawaii’s affordable housing inventory
- Addressing homelessness
- Supporting a living wage
- Standing up for working people
