February 24, 2022

Honolulu, HI – The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Locals 1186, 1260, and 1357 today announced their endorsement of Dr. Josh Green for governor of Hawaii.

“Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, the men and women of IBEW locals 1186, 1260, and 1357 have been working to keep the citizens of Hawaii connected,” said Green. “I am proud and humbled to have the support of those who are so dedicated to their communities, fellow workers, and state of Hawaii.”

In announcing the endorsement, Damien Kim, Business Manager and Financial Secretary of IBEW Local 1186, reflected on Green’s commitment to Hawaii workers.

“In Josh Green, Hawaii has a candidate for governor with a proven track record of standing beside workers. Whether its fighting for fair wages, better working conditions, or building opportunity here to keep jobs on the islands, Green has shown that he will continue to support the working men and women of Hawaii.”

“I can’t underestimate the gratitude that the people of Hawaii and I have for the workers of Hawaii’s IBEW locals,” said Green. “They’ve truly kept the lights on during difficult times. I’m running for governor so that IBEW workers and every citizen of Hawaii can continue to live, work, learn, and play in the state they love.”

“Josh Green is committed to building local jobs and opportunities for local people,” said Leroy Chincio Jr., Business Manager and Financial Secretary at IBEW Local 1260. “Now, the members of Hawaii’s three IBEW locals are standing with Dr. Green as he runs for Governor of Hawaii, and we encourage the citizens of Hawaii to do so too.”

Local 1357 Business Manager and Financial Secretary Troy Benevides said about the endorsement:
“Every day, IBEW members are working across our state to keep us connected. We need someone just as dedicated to Hawaii in the governor’s chair as we are. That’s why we’re supporting Josh Green. Josh Green stands with the workers of Hawaii, will invest in building brighter futures for Hawaii’s children, and will take concrete steps to invest in the people of Hawaii.”

“As governor, I will continue to have the backs of Hawaii’s worker and families,” Green said.
“We’re all working to build a brighter future for our children, with the opportunities they deserve. I look forward to having the IBEW by my side as we fight for a better future for Hawaii’s workers and families.”

Green also pledged to take action on the issues that matter most to the people of Hawaii, including affordable housing, the high cost of living, and the homeless crisis.
